| Hi everyone,
I finally got those nails clipped. It wasn't so bad
afterall. I didn't enjoy it, but I didn't fight too hard.
Dad forgot to clip my thumbs though, so he had to go back and do it the
next day. I just wanted to let you know that I'm moving my
blog. Here is my new address:
www.mattinglycat.blogspot.com
I'm keeping this account so I can comment on all your kitty blogs, and
I'll still update here from time to time, but I think I'll do most of
my posting over there. Hope you come check it out! I can't
come around and comment on all your sites today, but I will
tomorrow. Hope you kitties are well!

| Thanks for all your responses about the nail clipping. Fortunately, Mom and Dad have been too sick and busy to actually do it yet, but they talk about it alot. I don't like it when they are sick. They have colds, like I did when they first found me. Only their eyes don't run, just their noses. But they don't play nearly as much, and aren't nearly as tolerant in bed. This morning Mom said "Mattingly I'm having enough time sleeping without you nibbling my lip, nose and fingers." I was just trying to let her know that I was awake and ready to be loved. When a kitty needs love, he needs love, you know? My needs don't go away just because she's sick! She also doesn't like me to cuddle down on her chest while she watches tv when she's sick. So I'm feeling pretty neglected. I still get fed and everything, but I hope this changes when they feel better.
And speaking of feeding, I had to step it up a notch. The last time we were at the vet, he said I was getting a bit of a belly. Mommy said she just feeds me what the package says, but he said they always tell you to feed more than what it neccessary so you keep buying their product. He said not to worry about it right then because I was still sick and it was important that I have a good appetite to get better. See, I get fed twice a day, and before I would eat a little of my breakfast, and save the rest for later. Eat what was left in the afternoon, and then eat some of my dinner when that was put in my dish, and eat the rest of that in the middle of the night. The vet said if I was leaving food in my dish, then Mommy was probably feeding me too much. Well... I'm showing her now!! I make sure I start reminding her about meals at least two hours ahead of time. I like to go in the kitchen and meow (that's where the food comes from even though that's not where my food dish is). When she FINALLY feeds me, I eat it all up right away. I have sensed that she is giving me a little less now that I'm feeling better, but I'm doing everything I can to make sure she doesn't starve me! I even go in the kitchen to meow right after I eat so she remembers that she needs to come back in 12 hours and do that again. That pesky vet.
There won't be a picture today. The camera hasn't had any batteries for about a month, and Mom says she didn't want to take pictures anyway and risk irritating my eye. She says she doesn't want me to keep posting old pictures, and ones that are already on the website she made for me (I keep stealing them from her). But she said she will get batteries soon. So it will be a few days before any new pictures are up. Mom and Dad say I've grown quite a bit since they got me. I've been with them almost two months now. Mom says I'm turning into a handsome man. I think that's good. Well I'm off to see if they left any dirty tissues around for me to play with! | | |
| Well, my eye seems all healed Mom says. She calls me "bright eyes" again sometimes. I like that. I also like that my eye isn't all irritated. She says she doesn't like that I sneeze a lot... especially when I sneeze on her. But since my nose and eyes are not running she says she's not too worried about the sneezing right now. And last night she noticed the cut on my mouth. It's scabbed over and pretty much healed. I was trying to hide it from her because she always tells me not to chew on paper and she thinks it's a paper cut. I just didn't want to get scolded. But she found it. Oh well. I did get some good loving out of it.
I need to ask you all a grooming question. Mom bought some clippers to clip my nails. When she read the package, it said that usually nails need to be clipped once a month. She says my nails are getting long, and need to be clipped even though the vet did it two weeks ago. Dad says we should wait until a month has passed because that's what the package says. Who is right? How often do you get your nails clipped? I don't like it much. Mom never had to clip kitty nails before because she said all the cats she had when she was growing up were indoor/outdoor cats and their nails stayed naturally shorter from climbing trees and stuff. But I wonder, is climbing a tree nearly as much fun as climbing the curtains? Do you get scolded for climbing a tree? These are some things to think about while I go sit in the kitchen and wait for Mom or Dad to come home and feed me. Later!

| Hi everyone. Did you enjoy the holiday? I'm not sure what that is, but I heard lots of people talking about it.
It's been a busy several days. I've had a lot to do around the
house here. I've been helping Mom take notes for her school work
and also write in her journal. That entails helping her to hold
the pen or pencil. Sometimes I use my paws and sometimes my
teeth. She has to work hard, so I'm happy to help. She's
also been putting together some invitations for a big party. I
helped her with those by chewing on the envelopes. Also, when she
is filing papers, I like to help her spread them all over the office so
she can see if she misses anything. And when she is reading, I
like to sit on her chest and read with her. I point out words she
may have missed on the page, and I'm there to help with any vocabulary
issues. Some of the stuff is kind of boring though, so I end up
just trying to chew her fingers instead. I've also been needed a
lot lately for my love. One of my grandmothers was very sick over
the weekend. She even had to stay overnight at the vet for
several nights... what?... oh Mom just told me she doesn't go to the
vet... she had to stay in the hospital. That's terrible.
But she's home now and doing better. I hope they didn't have to
put things in her eyes. I hate that!! Anyway, I was needed
around here for lots of love and cuddling and comic relief. I was
happy to oblige. And speaking of eyes, I've found a new way to
show Mom and Dad I love them. You all have said here that it's ok
that they put the stuff in my eyes... that they love me and are trying
to take care of me. So I am returning that favor. When they
are laying down with their eyes closed, and I want to let them know how
much I love them (and maybe get some love in return), I nibble on their
eye lids. Mostly just Mom's since she is the one who puts the
stuff in my eyes most of the time.
Well Mom needs the computer back to work on more of those
invitations. My laptop isn't working at the moment, so I have to
share the other computer with Mom and Dad. So I won't be able to
come by and comment until later. Hope you are all having a great
week!

| Oh I scared Mom and Dad last night. I didn't mean to, but I was
so busy I didn't have time to explain what was going on. See now
I have to get TWO medicines in my eye and one in my mouth. The
one in my mouth I've been getting for awhile, and one of the eye
medicines too. But last night was the first time my Mom put the
new medicine in my eye. Well, she put it in my eye, and a few
minutes later, she was calling my dad in the room and getting all
upset. She said I was licking a lot, tossing my head
around, making funny noises with my mouth, and dripping drool on the
floor. When she got upset, it got me all upset. She held me
while my dad looked in my mouth. I did NOT like that. Then
they made all these phone calls.
They were worried about a reaction and pain and things like that.
Finally one doctor told them I probably just didn't like the taste of
the new medicine when I cleaned it off my face. WELL DUH!!!
I just didn't get a chance to tell them that because I was busy trying
to get the nasty taste out of my mouth! Mom acted weird for
awhile longer... she kept watching me breathe and everything.
Finally she left me alone so I could sleep. I don't usually sleep
that late in the evening, but the whole thing wore me out.
Here is another picture. My eyes aren't actually blue... they are
yellow. But my mom is too lazy to fix the color of the pictures
before she gives them to me to put up here. Enjoy me!
